AI Roundtable: Poll 200+ AI Models on Any Question

⬅️ Back to Tools

Overview

AI Roundtable is a free tool by Opper that lets you ask a question, define answer options, pick up to 50 AI models from a pool of 200+, and get structured results. No signup required.

Every model answers independently under identical conditions: no system prompt, no knowledge of other models, same setup for each one. You can also run a debate round where models see each other’s reasoning and get a chance to change their minds.

Created by Felix Wunderlich and José Sabater, it grew out of the Car Wash Test a viral experiment that tested 53 models, 10 runs each, on whether you should walk or drive 50 meters to a car wash. That test hit the Hacker News front page and generated 400+ comments, proving people care about how different models reason about the same question.

How It Works

There are two modes:

Poll Mode

Every model answers the question independently with no system prompt and no mention of other models. They don’t know they’re part of a roundtable. Each picks an option and gives their reasoning. One round, no influence between models.

This is useful when you want to see how different models think about the same question in isolation.

Debate Mode

The first round works the same as Poll mode. But if models disagree, a second round begins where every model sees what the others said; votes, reasoning, and model names. They can change their mind, call out flawed arguments, or double down. If everyone already agreed in round one, the result is shown immediately.

Once voting is complete, a reviewer model analyzes the full transcript and generates a Final Summary that captures key arguments, where models agreed, and what changed their minds.

Technical Details

  • All models are called in parallel via the Opper AI API, so rounds complete as fast as the slowest model
  • Responses use structured JSON output to ensure consistent vote-plus-reasoning format across all providers
  • Open-weight models are included alongside frontier models
  • The budget counter in the navbar tracks allocated API credits; more is added as people use the tool
  • You can bring your own Opper API key to use your own credits
  • Sessions are unlisted by default and fully visible in your Opper dashboard

Why This Matters

Having an expert panel of the strongest AI models debate a question together produces stronger signals than any single answer. When five frontier models agree, that’s meaningful consensus. When they disagree, their reasoning often surfaces assumptions you hadn’t considered.

It’s like having a room full of experts actually think through your question; except they’re all AI models, they all answer under identical conditions, and you can see exactly how each one reasoned.

Beyond comparing answers, the tool is useful for:

  • Testing how models handle edge cases and trick questions
  • Understanding where models refuse or show bias
  • Getting structured consensus on complex decisions
  • Researching model reasoning patterns across providers

What’s Next

Beyond the public app, the Opper team is building multi-model consensus for real tasks: tool calling, complex reasoning, and structured extraction. The idea is a single API endpoint where difficult calls (the ones that fail too often with one model), get resolved by a roundtable of models and returned as one clean decision by a reviewer.
